Samothrace is an island of ancient mysteries counting thousands of years of its history. It belongs to Greece and is placed in the northern region of the Aegean Sea.
Audronė Ilgevičienė and Petras Ilgevičius visited the island in July, 2015. They were particularly surprised when an employee of the Great Gods temple, after he found out where they came from, said: “Welcome back home. Lithuania is here…”
That was the beginning…
Due to this happening, the group consisting of 34 people by different professions left for the Samothrace in August, 2016.
The purpose of the travel was to explore the presumable signs of the Aestian presence in the island of Samothrace using the methods possible for everyone. The spiritual travel requirements were respected on the expedition, information was searched by empirical and intuitive methods. The material that was found acceptable for the science was transmitted to the professionals for further research, but the purpose of the traveling was not only the search for scientifically accepted facts.
Before traveling we realized that the most important thing is not whether we find material evidence of the Aestian stay on the island, after more than three thousand years, or not. We realized that this exploit was necessary for the Aestian spiritual identity verification, as a growing number of people in Lithuania do not believe in the spiritual roots of their nation anymore.
This book provides You with this unconventional expedition material. It consists of the three groups of texts: the historical-archaeological context, the intuitive insights and the experiences of the travelers.
The video material of expedition is presented in DVD. Here you can find:
- Videos of the transcribed interviews with the local Greeks – residents of the island (Janis Maltesos and Janis Antonios);
- Conversation with archeologist Dimitris Matsas;
- Filmed material of the expedition: the places on the island the travelers visited.
This book is a material for reflections and is meant especially for those who consider the Aestian question important.
This is a journey into oneself, into forgotten past of the nation, which paves the way for the forthcoming future today.
